Old Mill of Cusio

The Old Cusio Mill dates back to the mid-17th century, or rather, the earliest document mentioning the structure dates from that date.
Built of local stone, with a slate roof, it underwent a conservative restoration that was completed in 2014.
Inside, gears and millstones work as they once did, with the power of water from the nearby stream. That's right because it is water, which through a special pipe reaches the mill wheel, that is the element that activates the gear, reviving the magic of grinding each time.
The outer wheel, once made of wood, had been replaced with a metal one due to wear and tear, while gears and internal components retain the original wooden structure.
Valerio, the miller, repairs and fixes each component with his own hands and allows the mill to continue working despite its age.
To visit the Mill is to take a plunge into the past, into a magical atmosphere with rhythms far removed from those of our daily lives.
So... take some time to discover this authentic orobic jewel.
