Mountains and peaks

Mount Aga

A peak located above 2,700 meters offers a very wide panorama encompassing the main surrounding mountain ranges. On a clearer day the view becomes particularly impressive, extending to distant and clearly recognizable mountain ranges. Along the route, especially in the higher areas, it is not uncommon to encounter alpine fauna such as ungulates and birds of prey, which enrich the hiking experience. To reach Mount Aga, it is possible to follow the itinerary from Carona to the Longo Refuge: continue on trail 253 to reach the slopes of Cigola, and before reaching the pass of the same name, take a wide gully on the right that leads to a passageway leading up to Mount Aga.
Early in the season snow may be present beyond Cigola Pass, and crampons may be necessary in some cases. The final ridge, although short, has some slightly exposed sections: caution is advised.

The mountain is also accessible in winter, but only to experienced hikers with appropriate equipment; during the winter season it is also advisable to contact the huts in advance to check if they are open.
