Eco-museum Of Valtorta

Via Roma, 5
Valtorta

Description

In the cute little village of Valtorta, visit the Valtorta Ecomuseum which is best described by its own statutory goals, this institution promotes, “the involvement and active participation of the local population, as it represents the expression of a territory's culture, and its primary reference point is the local community.”

The Ecomuseum engages the community by seeking to "reconstruct the social, economic, cultural, and environmental transformations historically experienced by communities and their territories, with the aim of fostering shared and sustainable development" and to "raise awareness and promote the sustainable development of local communities, scientific and cultural institutions, schools, organizations, and associations."

Play a part in the valorization of this hamlet and in promoting good practices as the key elements that define Valtorta Ecomuseum are community, territory, cultural heritage and shared development. Witness the community’s culture and identity through its shared history, traditions, knowledge, expressions, aspirations and territory.

The Valtorta Ecomuseum recovers and preserves both tangible and intangible heritage as a tool for planning the future based on the aspirations of its people. In this sense, it represents the culmination of a journey that began in the early 1980s with the creation of the Ethnographic Museum, initiated by the then-mayor of Valtorta, Pietro Busi, and the local priest, Don Angelo Longaretti. At the same time, the Ecomuseum is, above all, the starting point for a journey towards unlocking the potential of this land, with a vision firmly set on the future.
