The natural mineral- water spring, fundamental for the vitality of life has been used in loco for decades for its health benefits as well as being bottled and sold successfully worldwide. The fame of the waters brought a swift development in tourism which gave rise to the need for accommodation and entertainment with decor suitable for the refined tastes of the urban elite visitor. When in the 1800s and 1900s one went to take the waters it was not only as a health benefit but also a statement of social status which thus elevated the locality to the forefront of fashion.
