“The Ancestors stopped there”.
Perched up at a corner of the Serina Valley, lies the little hamlet of Cornalba. The houses here spread across a large moorland which is crossed by a secondary route of the Via Mercatoriam trail. This quiet and peaceful village has an ancient guesthouse that is famous for its large residence and wide staircase, a fountain which is also a place for washing and a stable where the admirable fresco titled, “The Ancestors stopped there”.

The protagonist of the fresco is Saint Sebastian, he was a Roman soldier who was martyred for supporting the Christian faith. In the fresco, this moment has been depicted when numerous arrows released Saint Sebastian from his worldly duties. He was venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Christian Church and since have become an ancient and widespread cult in all Christian Churches
