The historic San Giovanni parish church was built in the Laxolo contrada and mentioned as one of the churches which was put under the jurisdiction of the baptismal church of Almenno San Salvatore in 1353. It was contested right from its foundation by a great many vicariates. In 1734 it was part of the Almenno vicariate, in 1784 the Berbenno vicariate and in 1822 it passed to Villa d'Almé. \nThe Santissimo Sacramento, Rosario and Dottrina Cristiana schools were built in the parish.
