The Via Mercatorum (traders’ route) of Cornello was characterized by an arcade under which the only market in the Brembana Valley took place up until the arrival of the Venetians in Bergamo. The possibility of buying and selling transferred a great importance to Cornello. The market was a hub of activity where products, ideas, innovations and technical know how circulated. The via Mercatorum is part of a cultural axis which includes the Mercatorum and Priula – migrant routes, artists, the Tasso family and the Harlequin.
