The itinerary begins near to the main station of the ex-railway in San Pellegrino Terme,. Following the cycle path (ex-railway) northwards you cross the River Brembo and reach San Giovanni Bianco. During this stretch the modern day illumination installed in the old tunnels of the ex-railway offers enchanting light-play. Between tunnels you glimpse the houses of the historic hamlet of Cornello dei Tasso. At Camerata Cornello the cycle path ends and you once again cross the River Brembo heading towards Portiera and begin to climb toward the area of the old mine. Here you pass the metal barrier and continue along the unpaved road which leads to Dossena where you pedal down towards Corone, following the signs for Lepreno.
After the village take the farm track which traverses the entire slope of Mount Gioco until you reach a small chapel where the descent starts.
You are now able to reach the village of Santa Croce where, once past the church a beautiful mule track descends and takes you back to San Pellegrino.
